NOTES FOR REMARKS IN THE SENATE ON THE BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION BILL

I wish to explain briefly my reasons for abstaining on this vote. I could not say no to the budget because it represents other interests in the country, and I find it difficult to say no to the will of the House of Commons on a budget bill. However, I could not say yes to Bill C-52 because, as a Maritimer, this is an affair of the heart, and how could I say yes to something which is so unfair to Atlantic Canada?
